Colorado Workshop, July 27-29, 2018
We now have this workshop on our Workshops page. You can register on line just the same as with our New York workshops. You can pay the deposit though PayPal or send a check, but, either way, please fill out the registration form as well. Click on the direct link on the Workshops Registration Page that says: Downloadable Registration Form (CO – July). You can fill it out on-line and send it electronically separate from the PayPal transaction. For those sending payment by check, you can print the Registration Form, fill it out, and include it with the 50% down payment.
Central American Trip
Our 42-days of travel included the Mexican Yucatan (5 days), Belize (28 days) and Guatemala (9 days.) A highlight was an impromptu cordwood workshop in Red Bank, Belize, with the enthusiastic Mayan people. (Red Bank is known for its population of Scarlet Macaws.) A few days later, Rob was a guest speaker on cordwood masonry at the Permaculture Course being held at the Maya Mountain Research Farm near San Pedro Colombia, Belize. Thank you, Christopher Nesbitt, for hosting us. All in all, it was a great trip. We enjoyed good weather and good health, although we contracted “Montezuma’s revenge” late on the day we returned, probably, we think, the result of something we bought at the Guatemala City airport and ate on the plane. This slowed us up for a couple of days.
Next Open House: Saturday, May 5, 2018
This free event showcases a variety of green building techniques. See a dozen different cordwood masonry buildings, several living roofs, earth-sheltered housing, , the masonry stove, the sauna, bicycle powered water system, off-the-grid solar electric system, raised bed gardening and the Earthwood stone circle The complete tour takes almost two hours, so be sure to arrive by 2 p.m. 366 Murtagh Hill Road, West Chazy, NY. On the same day, Bruce and Nancy Kilgore are having open house tours at their beautiful Ravenwood homestead, just 17 miles from Earthwood. Tour both places on the same day. (Ravenwood is one of the most beautiful cordwood homes in the world!) They are staying open until 6 pm, so you can come to Earthwood – we close at 4 pm – and then move over to Ravenwood. Their address is 442 Nashville Road, Saranac, NY 12981.
